Tanıtım Yazısı: The Black Sea area as a region of study has recently become a unit of analysis for comparative research in social scince. Recent empirical studies on countries in this region demonstrate that there are comparable experiences in their transition periods. These similarities not only denote a common ground to explore within the social scientifik enterprise, but also enable researchers, policymakers and statesmen to thing about their own country, reflectively, through an understanding of the experiences of others. The articles in this book are the outcome of an endeavour in which social scientists within and outside of the region attempt to explore various aspects of the transition and consolidation period in the Black Sea area. The contributors provide comparative perspectives on the nature and consequences of regime change, arrays of political transformations, changing political culture and formation of civil society.
